The Sharks swam away with a big win against Emerson in the GNAC women's basketball quarterfinals on Tuesday, 85-68 the final score.

Simmons, ranked fifth in the tournament, proved to be to much for the Emerson Lions, whose fourth seed and home court advantage didn't do them any good.

Students and trustees mixed and mingled at the first trustee/student-only reception Feb. 3 in the Management Building. The reception, which allowed students and trustees to openly discuss thoughts regarding life at Simmons, will hopefully be built into the trusteesí schedule during their visits to the College each semester, according to Sarah Neill, Dean for Student Life.
On June 11, 2003, a suicide bomber attacked the bus she was riding in Jerusalem, killing 16 passengers and injuring 100 bystanders.

It's apartment-hunting season, and the time of year most of us ponder whether to stay on campus for another year or move out and face the world of rent payments and cable bills.

Living on campus has its perks and it may even seem like the better option. After all, when you live on campus you don't have to pay bills (except that massive one at the beginning of each semester), cook for yourself, or worry about calling a plumber when the toilet is backed up.

EBooks reading devices are growing in popularity. The recent release of yet another such device, Apple's iPad, brings with it a question for consumers: which should we buy, eBooks or real books? The answer should be those that are pulpy and bound. We need to continue to buy and read from real books.

For most people, college is a transition period. A time for self-discovery and also a point at which they can redefine themselves after a potentially bad experience in high school, if they so choose. Sadly, however, whether we like to admit it or not, initial judgments are often still based, at least in part, on a person's outward appearance and how they choose to present themselves in terms of clothing and grooming.
Goudreau is a cyclist for the Bike and Build organization. She will spend her summer biking over 4,000 miles across the country and building affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity.

In a few weeks, a trail of multi-colored yarn knitted together by the hands of many will begin its path in the Main College Building entrance hall. It will wind its way around the railings of the stairs, sweetly tempting climbers to follow it up one, two, three, four floors into the Trustman Art Gallery.

Shutter Island recently hit the silver screen and is proving to be everything it was rumored to be. The 138-minute Martin Scorsese film moves at a swift pace with spectacular cinematography. Never does a scene lag, and one demands more from the director.

Originally, the film was set to be rated PG-13 to reach a younger audience, however, the required editing would have depleted the story-line.

When I first began embracing the single life, I thought that the dating scene was the best part.

However, I am beginning to understand that there is something even better about being single: my friends.

You see, they will always be there for me. They listen to and laugh with me about my sometimes hopeless dating encounters, hug me when I need a hug, and love me regardless of anything.
